
The growth of the Norwegian offshore sector has recently been subject to the supply of platforms and oil rigs, of which there has been notorious shortage in recent months. But like the ketchup-effect, 18 new oil rigs will now be introduced to the market in the next three years. The new rigs alone will require 4000 new rig workers, writes Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.
The head of Petoro - the Norwegian equivalent to the Danish North Sea Fund - Kjel Petersen, is calling for the various parts of the labour market to get together to find a solution.
