
In a spot market often characterised as hopeless, tanker carriers make a significant effort to improve earnings and cut down costs – not least bunker costs.
Last year, Maersk Tankers spent no less than USD 670 million on bunkers and is working actively on cutting down on the major cost entry through its Project 200. The project has a goal of finding approximately USD 178 million in savings and improvements in the economy before the end of the year. So far, the project seems to be a success.
