Maersk Tankers has been trying to indtroduce a new bunker surcharge in the tank industri, which, as opposed to other segments in shipping, has not yet had a chance to transfer the expenses from the soaring fuel prices to the customers.
As a result, the Danish tank shipping company presented a proposal to its customers last year, which stated that charging the customers for the expensive bukner was crucial to the industry.
