Norwegian shipping headed for record year in 2013

The Norwegian shipping companies, especially the ones active in the North Sea, are expecting a turnover growth of 8.3 percent this year and a similar growth rate in 2014.

2013 seems to become a record year for Norwegian shipping but the industry cannot recruit the right number of professionals, the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association states in a market development report published Thursday.

In total, Norwegian shipping companies expect a growth in their turnover of 8.3 percent in 2013 and a similar growth rate in 2014. According to the report, the Norwegian carriers assess that they have recovered following the financial crisis, the Norwegian business newspaper Dagens Næringsliv reports.
