Maersk to sell off many smaller units

Maersk Group is being streamlined, and the company is sharpening its focus on the four core areas. Consequently, Maersk is now announcing a spate of smaller divestitures, writes the company in Maersk Post.

According to Maersk Post, the company’s assets will be combed in order to produce divestitures.

“We operate in capital intensive industries, and if our businesses are not world-class performers, we want to turn them into that or move the capital to activities that are. And if a world class performer is not a core activity, we have to ask ourselves if the capital cannot yield better long-term returns elsewhere,” writes Group Chief Financial Officer Trond Westlie in Maersk Post.
