Optimism in the global shipping industry at the end of the quarter that ended February 2013 was at its highest level in two years, according to an analysis by Moore Stephens, which frequently tests the shipping industry's confidence about the future.

435 players from the maritime cluster around the world participated in the survey, which showed a total index of 5.8 points on a scale from 1 to 10. November 2012 showed 5.6 points, and in August last year the index came in at 5.3, which Moore Stephens views as a positive sign as the trend seems to represent a steady development.
