The short-term nature of the success of the rate increase implementation on the routes between Asia and Europe, which are extremely important to several of the major container carriers - including A.P. Moeller-Maersk's Maersk Line, was highlighted again by the week that ended on Friday.
The spot rate for shipping a twenty-foot container, teu, went down by USD 114, or 9,1 percent, putting the current price at USD 1140 per teu on the Asia-Europe routes, according to the most recent update of the SCFI rate index from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.
