Golden Ocean to buy 18 bulk ships from Fredriksen companies

Norway's Golden Ocean is on track to buy 18 dry bulk ships from a series of companies under John Fredriksen's Hemen Holding. The shipping company will finance the acquisition by issuing shares, with Fredriksen buying half of the shares.

Norwegian dry bulk operator Golden Ocean is negotiating an acquisition of 18 bulk ships from subsidiaries under John Fredriksen's Hemen Holding, says Golden Ocean in a press release. Golden Ocean is also controlled by John Fredrisen.

The 18 ships are all equipped with scrubbers and consist of 10 newcastlemaxes and 8 kamsarmax ships, and they will cost Golden Ocean USD 752 million.
