Hans-Christian Olesen is whistling when he comes down the stairs at Ultrabulk’s headquarters in Gentofte, which is so far from the cafe environment in Copenhagen that a bar has been established in the basement, where employees can hang out on Fridays or invite customers down for a beer or a game of football.

Whether it is the spring sun, the booming market or the expansion, which the Chilean-owned dry bulk operator is involved in, is uncertain, but there is no doubt that the relatively new chief executive has an optimistic outlook.
