Norden is opening a new office in Melbourne, Australia, and is thus moving against the stream of carriers that have otherwise and increasingly been centering their activities in and around Singapore - which Norden has also done - says the carrier's Head of Dry Cargo, Executive Vice President Ejner Bonderup, in a comment to ShippingWatch.
"All our segments, from Handysize to Capesize, are in play in Australia. As a continent and a market, Australia covers the whole range and we have numerous activities in the region. Like many others, we've centralized a great deal of our Far East activities in Singapore over the past 10-15 years, and this has been the right thing to do because there's a significant shipping community in Singapore, with customers, brokers and competitors, which is very valuable to us."
