Gearbulk Chairman: This is why we are joining forces with Grieg

The new joint venture between Grieg Star and Gearbulk provides an opportunity to improve the situation for dry bulk carriers even in a horrible bulk market. A large fleet is an advantage in the market, Kristian Jebsen, CEO and Chairman of Gearbulk, tells ShippingWatch.

The new partnership between Gearbulk and Grieg Star aimed at operating a dry bulk fleet of more than 130 vessels represents an attempt to defeat the bulk crisis, CEO and Chairman of Gearbulk, Kristian Jebsen, explains to ShippingWatch about the motivation for the two very storied carriers, which both stem from Norwegian shipping families, recently announcing the new partnership.

"Difficult times for the shipping industry and poor financial results makes one look for ways to improve the situation. Focus on costs is essential, but one also needs to look at structural changes, cooperation with others, etc.," he says and explains that the scenario has not only changed for carriers but for customers as well:
