Maersk and MSC could be overtaken within the next few years

The 2M alliance, which consists of Maersk Line and MSC, could be overtaken on the routes between Asia and North Europe by its rivals in Ocean Alliance within the next few years, writes SeaIntel in an update about the many new mega-vessels headed for the market.

Maersk Line and MSC's 2M alliance may soon have to surrender its title as the world's largest container alliance.

According to analyst firm SeaIntel, the alliance will likely be overtaken by its rivals in the Ocean Alliance on the routes between Asia and Europe just two years from now.
