
German liner company Hapag-Lloyd now says that it will charge customers an emergency bunker surcharge on several routes in an effort to soften the blow of the rapidly increasing fuel prices, informs the company Wednesday.
On Tuesday there was still doubt about whether the company would support the announcements made by the other box carriers. According to ShippingWatch's sources, Hapag-Lloyd had no plans to do so Tuesday, though the company declined to comment.
