CMA CGM wants sails on smaller container ships: "Clearly an option"

In just a few years, it will not be an unrealistic prospect to see sails on board a CMA CGM vessel, sustainability chief Guilhem Isaac Georges tells ShippingWatch. The shipping line is in contact with several suppliers.

Within the next few years, CMA CGM will probably have a sail on board one of its smaller container vessels to test whether wind power could become part of the French container line's palette.

CMA CGM is currently in contact with three French suppliers regarding various wind solutions, says Guilhem Isaac Georges, senior manager of sustainability, who took up this position at the end of last year.
