Taiwanese container carriers see major progress in the first quarter

Three Taiwanese container carriers, Evergreen, Yang Ming and Wan Hai, are coming out of the first quarter with record-high results, and the carriers' market value increased more than tenfold during the year, writes Alphaliner.

The overheated container market has generated a record quarter for three Taiwanese container carriers, Evergreen, Yang Ming and Wan Hai, which have also seen their market value skyrocket in the past year.

Evergreen comes out of the first quarter with a net profit of TWD 36.1 billion (USD 1.3 billion) against a deficit of TWD 422 million in the same period last year.
