Container rates set record for sixth week in a row

Rate index SCFI continues ahead and sets another record in the first week of 2022.

Spot rates on container freight increased further and reached new heights in the first week of 2022, shows the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI).

SCFI – which rates spot prices on container freight from Shanghai to a number of global destinations – increased by 1.2 percent to 5,109.60. Rates have been increasing for nine weeks in a row, with records set in the last six weeks.
