Maersk's bottom line saved by fuel savings

Maersk may have saved USD 750m on lowered bunker oil prices in the second quarter compared to the previous year. Without the savings, net profit for the quarter would be near zero, says analyst.

New calculations by bank Sydbank estimates that sharply declining freight volumes and freight prices have seemingly pushed Maersk’s earnings down big-time towards zero in the second quarter of this year.
