Drewry: Asia-Northern Europe hit by false hopes

Container freight from Asia to Northern Europe declined significantly in late 2013. This indicates that the 3rd quarter increase was based on false expectations, says Drewry.

It looks like the retail industry was far too optimistic in its expectations of cargo volumes transported from Asia to Northern Europe during the spring and end of 2013. In any case, container freight volumes declined significantly by the end of the year, says Drewry in a new analysis.
