Supported by an improvement in demand among European consumers, the combined container volumes from the Far East to Europe - the headhaul routes - have experienced a significant growth this year, according to a report by Clarkson.
The growth is currently expected to increase by 6.2 percent in 2014 as a whole, to a total of 15.1 million teu. According to Clakson's latest Container Intelligence Monthly, July 2014, this will represent the fastest annual growth since 2010. Similarly, developments on the Pacific are also expected to see the best year since 2010, with a projected growth of 5.4 percent, corresponding to 14.6 million teu.
