China's shipowners call for more competition

"Difficult to say whether the Chinese government will approve 2M (Maersk Line and MSC) or not," says Zhang Shouguo, Director of China Shipowners' Association in an interview with Asian media.

The China Shipowners' Association, which was particularly critical toward the P3 alliance cooperation between the three largest container carriers in the world, Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM - an alliance that the Chinese authorities ultimately rejected back in the spring this year - is now calling for more competition in the container industry.
