Drewry: Trade through Suez accelerating

The number of containers sent from Asia to the US East Coast, passing through the Suez Canal, is increasing, says Drewry, and the analyst agency goes on to ask whether this represents a problem for the competitor in Panama.

Carriers are increasingly opting for routes that go through the Suez Canal when transporting containers from Asia to the US East Coast, according to an analysis by Drewry. The analyst agency has studied how container freight is gradually switching from the traditional Panama Canal to an increasing use of Suez instead.
