The company behind the wrecked freighter El Faro, Tote Services, has reportedly filed for protection against claims that the company is responsible for the 33 crew members who lost their lives when the ship sank in the Bahamas close to one month ago.

Tote has filed for protection in a Florida court, citing that El Faro “was in all respects seaworthy and properly manned," and that the company therefore bears no liability for the loss, reports Reuters.
