Shippers to Vestager: Drop deal with container carriers

European shippers, totaling thousands of the container shipowners' customers, are urging EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager to lift every type of special rules for container carriers and especially their public rate increases.

Thousands of shippers, which represent the container carriers' customers in The European Shippers' Council (ESC), are filing an appeal to the EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, to refrain from entering a deals with shipowners, which could legalize the way in which they publicly announce rate increases.

In a letter to Margrethe Vestager, the shippers also urge the EU Commissioner to completely lift the exemptions, which container carriers still have in relation to European competition legislation.
