Unifeeder's earnings take big dive

Unifeeder, North Europe's largest feeder operator, noted a big slide in earnings in 2015 down to USD 12.4 million. Revenue also dropped below the development from recent years at the carrier.

North Europe's largest feeder operator, Denmark's Unifeeder, owned by an equity fund, has taken a hit on earnings as well as revenue. In 2015 the carrier achieved a net profit of USD 12.4 million down from a profit in the previous year of USD 33 million. Revenue fell to about USD 389 million last year from USD 464 million in 2014.

The result at the feeder and short sea carrier in 2015 is miles away from the earnings and revenue noted in recent years. One piece of this puzzle is that the deep sea container carriers have taken over a big part of the feeder traffic in the Baltic and the North Sea as the rates on East-West routes from Asia to Europe have declined severely.
