Maersk's decision to pool all its container activities together in the new Maersk Transportation & Logistics is, from the Danish conglomerate's perspective, the right way to squeeze more synergies from its box-related businesses.
The Maersk Executive Board thus believes it makes sense to have the entire supply chain – from the ones building containers to the ones delivering the containers to customers – placed under the new business unit which Chairman Michael Pram Rasmussen describes as "the new conglomerate."
