CMA CGM acquires regional carrier

CMA CGM has acquired carrier Sofrana, which operates in the Pacific. The acquisition is the latest in line of a series of regional players taken over by the French container carrier.

France's CMA CGM has, through subsidiary ANL, acquired a majority stake in regional carrier Sofrana Unilines, which according to CMA CGM is a key player in the regional Pacific trade, says the carrier in a press release.

Sofrana operates, on its own or in partnerships, a fleet of ten vessels on eight routes that service a total 21 ports in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific Islands.
