Maersk Tankers wants to optimize using ideas and data

New ways to utilize data and educating employees is supposed to lower Maersk Tanker's bunker bill this year. It directly impacts the bottom line, says Brian Østergaard Sørensen, Head of Fleet Group Management, to ShippingWatch.

Fuel costs make up 60 percent of Maersk Tanker's collective costs to sail their ships, voyage costs, and as bunker prices are rising, it is becoming increasingly important to save fuel.

Therefore, Maersk Tankers has a goal to become 3 percent more energy efficient this year compared to last year. In practice, this means that three percent of overall costs need to go.
