Shell kicks off huge Australian LNG export

Oil major Shell has shipped its first cargo from major Australian LNG project Prelude. The project is expected to produce 3.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually.

Shell has commenced its liquefied natural gas export from the massive Australian LNG project Prelude, the company writes in a brief statement.

Project Prelude consists of a floating LNG production and storage facility, FLNG, which is more than 490 meters long and operates off the northwestern coast of Australia. Shell declines to comment on the project's price, but analyst firm Wood Mackenzie assesses to Reuters that Prelude FLNG has cost upwards of USD 17 billion.
