Euronav CEO says 2020 is off to strong start despite sliding rates

Euronav's chief executive officer says that the start to 2020 has been even better than the end of last year. This comes after sentiment has changed in recent weeks due to large rate dips and the coronavirus. And the Cosco tankers could return to the market.

Euronav finished 2019 with its best result in years, but the start to the new year has been even better.

At a teleconference following the strong report for the fourth quarter, which showed a profit of USD 160 million, CEO Hugo De Stoop says that the Belgian tanker shipping company is off to a flying start in 2020.
