Uni-Tankers will hunt for acquisitions in 2021

USTC-owned Unit-Tankers will lead the charge in a needed consolidation of small and medium-sized players in the tanker market. The shipping company has a long list of potential acquisition candidates, CEO tells ShippingWatch.

Tanker operator Uni-Tankers, part of oil billionaire Torben Østergaard-Nielsen's USTC group, will in 2021 take charge in a "needed" consolidation of the tanker market.

There are too many small and medium-sized tanker companies, and they are generally not earning enough to renew the fleet of ships and thus accommodate the increasing environmental requirements for ship tonnage, says CEO Per Ekmann.
