More tankers embark on illicit sailings following embargo on Russian oil

The number af tanker vessels eligible for high-risk activity classification has increased following the EU’s latest embargo on Russian oil products, one consultancy estimates.

The EU and G7 countries’ import ban on Russian oil products increases the probability that more tankers will break sanctions and embark on illicit deployments, estimates analyst firm Windward, which monitors the global tanker fleet in the context of the extended sanctions imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
