Egypt needs new energy, and one way in which the country plans to secure this energy is by importing LNG. Specifically, 75 shipments for a total USD 2.2 billion will be imported in the coming years through four monthly transports performed by four international carriers, according to several media reports.

The companies have not been named yet, but BP has previously been involved in a tender from Egyptian gas carrier EGAS for the LNG transports, so the move could involve companies of this kind.
