"This was probably my last turn as CEO"

In addition to BW Group CEO Carsten Mortensen stepping down, the 52 year old shipping man is also bidding farewell to chief executive positions after 14 years. ShippingWatch has interviewed him about his plans and experiences after heading the Singapore-based group for three hectic years.

With Carsten Mortensen's decision to leave BW Group, the now 52 year old Danish shipping man has probably completed his last turn as CEO of a shipping company, he says after having headed Norden and the Singapore-based shipping group for a total of 14 years.

With offices in both Singapore and Copenhagen, the strain of the job became too much, with a professional life in which he was traveling most days of the year, and one of the few certain things for his future is that his base will now be Copenhagen, presumably an office in the maritime cluster just north of the Danish capital.
