New Norwegian tax rules make more carriers seek abroad

Several shipping companies are considering moving functions and departments out of Norway as a result of the new Norwegian tax rules, the Norwegian Shipowners' Association tells ShippingWatch. DHT has already made the move.

A new set of tax rules on Norway has caused a stir in the country's shipping cluster, especially among the shipping companies registered abroad but with management located in Norway.

Bermuda-registered tanker shipping company DHT Holdings has already taken the consequence and decided to move its senior management from Norway to Singapore as a direct result of the new rules, which came into effect at the turn of the year.
