The corona crisis has made ferry operator P&O Ferries halt passenger transport and send a great deal of employees home on furlough with wage compensation.
A total of 1,100 employees were furloughed last week by way of pay compensation schemes, through which the UK government covers 80 percent of staff salaries, while P&O Ferries contributes the remaining part. Other countries have "similar schemes," the carrier writes in a statement issued last week.
