DFDS aims for open borders within few months – but peak season is lost

Ferry operator DFDS expects national borders to open within a few months, which will breathe some life into passenger operations. But the peak season is lost, says CEO Torben Carlsen, who has taken several ships out of operation and sent 2,800 employees home.

Ferry operator DFDS expects to see European borders open over the coming months.

But the opening will happen so late that the peak season for passenger operations will have passed. And that is the reason the carrier is lowering its expectation for this year's operating result to roughly DKK 2 billion (USD 289.3 million) for the full year 2020 against an operating result of DKK 3.6 billion in 2019.
