Prosecutor calls for prison sentence for Norwegian shipowner in scrapping case

The financial police in Norway calls for shipowner Georg Eide to be sentenced to several months in prison for participating in an attempt to smuggle a dry bulk ship to illegal scrapping in Pakistan.

Norway's financial police Økokrim calls for shipowner Georg Eide to be sentenced to nine months in prison for his role in an attempt to smuggle a dry bulk vessel to Pakistan to have it illegally scrapped, reports E24.

Økokrim says that Eide is guilty of severe environmental crimes in the case related to dry bulk ship Tide Carrier, which in February 2017 ran aground in Norway.
