New sanctions on Iran hit shipping companies with ties to religious leader

A round of new US sanctions on Iran affect a ship and two shipping companies. According to the US, they are part of a network used by Iran's religious leader to reward political allies and to pursue enemies.

A ship and two shipping companies are affected by a new round of US sanctions imposed on Iran.

Specifically, the sanctions hit cargo ship Bosco Gilan and the two companies Bonyad Shipping Agencies and Sina Port and Marine Services Development Company, according to a statement from the US Treasury Department.
