Port of Antwerp is testing sensors for autonomous ships

The port in Antwerp has joined forces with the city's university to test 3D sensors for autonomous ships. The technology is inspired by bats' ability to navigate.

The port in the Belgian city of Antwerp has joined forces with the city's university to test sensors for use on board unmanned vessels.

The tests are made with so-called 3D sonar sensors, which will be used on autonomous ships for inland shipping.
