Merchant fleet has increased by almost 3 percent

Since August last year, the global merchant fleet has grown by nearly 3 percent. The number of scrapped ships is heading for lowest level in 15 years, writes Clarksons Research.

The fleet of merchant ships exceeding 100 gross tonnage has increased by 2.9 percent since the end of August last year, writes analyst firm Clarksons Research in its latest World Fleet Monitor.
