Construction on Panama-competitor to begin in 2014

Chinese business man and entrepreneur Wang Jin is still planning to build a 170 nautical miles long canal parallel to the Panama Canal, to be finished in 2019.

The 41 year old Chinese business man and entrepreneur Wang Jin maintains his adventurous plans to build a 170 nautical miles long canal parallel to the Panama Canal.

“I am 100 per cent certain the construction will begin in December 2014 and we will finish in five years in 2019,” says Wang Jin in an interview with British newspaper The Telegraph, stressing that the framework for the project is in place and that only minor adjustments will be made, while also pointing out that the canal could become one of the largest engineering projects in history.
