Risk Intelligence: Al-Shabab no longer a threat to shipping

The terrorist network al-Shabab no longer poses a direct threat to shipping, concludes Risk Intelligence in a new report, though Risk Intelligence tells ShippingWatch that the terrorist network could play a different role going forward.

The al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist network al-Shabab has been significantly weakened in recent years and no longer poses a direct maritime threat, says Jesper Melchior Hansen, duty watch manager at Risk Intelligence. In a new report, the security analysts have studied the developments of the terrorist group, and the conclusion comes as good news for shipping:
