Head of IMO: Agreement on ballast water in November

The IMO delegates will gather for the General Assembly in late November where they will discuss various topics, including the ballast water convention. Along with the NOx requirements, this convention led to strong discussions last spring, with several countries calling for postponement of the set deadlines for when the various requirements will come into effect. The IMO Secretary General Koji Sekimizu characterizes the resolution for the convention of the implementation as "very important," calling for cooperation at the General Assembly:
