Spot rates on Asia-Europe dive again

Spot rates on Asia-Europe experienced another dive this week, at USD 135 per teu for an 11.1 percent drop. And spot rates on the general index also declined, by 4.6 percent.

Spot rates for container shipping remained under pressure this week as the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index decreased by 4.6 percent, according to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.

Alongside the dropping index, rates on Asia-Europe declined by USD 135 per twenty-foot container (teu), down to USD 1,078 this week, says Reuters. This corresponds to an 11.1 percent decrease.
