Historical change to Maersk ownership structure

With a historical modernization of the ownership behind Denmark's biggest company, Chairman of the A.P. Moeller Foundation Ane Mærsk-Mc-Kinney Uggla tightens the grip on the A.P. Moeller-Maersk Group.

The Board of Directors of the A.P. Moeller Foundation, headed by Chairman Ane Mærsk-Mc-Kinney Uggla, announced a historical decision yesterday: the Foundation will take a step back from its role as owner of A.P. Moeller-Maersk, installing instead a new holding company - A.P. Moeller Holding - between the two corporate structures.

The move could have significant consequences on the long term, for instance the till now unheard of fact that the primary owner of Maersk, going forward, will be able to invest and perform acquisitions beyond the Maersk Group. This in itself is noteworthy.
