More traffic on the English Channel

Volumes increased across the English Channel in 2013 for shipping companies DFDS, P&O, and MyFerryLink, in an otherwise brutal market.

Ferry routes on the English Channel from Dover to Calais and Dunkirk with DFDS, P&O Ferries, and Eurotunnel-owned carrier MyFerryLink as operators, can be pleased to note an increase in customers during 2013, a year that was otherwise characterized by a brutal price war and a legal dispute about whether Eurotunnel is even allowed to operate a ferry company parallel to the tunnel.

"The total number of passengers, cars, and trucks is highly encouraging, and the market has returned after a challenging 2012," says Bill Gibbons, Director of industry association Discover Ferries, on the basis of new numbers from Ferrystat.
