DFDS finished the first three months of the year with a deficit before taxes and special items of USD 20.11 million, an improvement over the same period last year, where the carrier suffered a USD 21.39 million deficit, according to the company's interim report. Revenue came to USD 511.97 million, compared to USD 493.63 million in the 1st quarter 2013.

And this result falls in line with expectations, says the carrier, as the first quarter is traditionally a low season for DFDS, especially in terms of passenger activities, where the profit was significantly lower than last year because Easter 2013 fell in March.
