Pirates in Southeast Asia target small tankers

The International Maritime Bureau warns against a trend in the South China Sea where local pirates have on several occasions targeted small tankers vessels.

The threat from local pirates against small tanker vessels in particular has flared up in the South China Sea, according to a statement by the International Maritime Bureau, IMB, a subdivision of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The IMB warns about the trend in the area following several attacks within the last month.
