"Angmo" to head shipowners in Singapore

For the first time ever, Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) has elected a foreigner, or "angmo" as foreigners are called in the country. The choice was a Dane, who will represent the carriers in the world's largest shipping hub.

Without contested election, Danish Esben Poulsson was elected last night as the Chairman of Singapore Shipping Association (SSA). For a number of years, Esben Poulsson has been on the board of SSA and will now take over the Chairman position from Patrick Phoon of Evergreen. He will be the first non-Singaporean to do so.
