Several Greek carriers, according to news media The Shipping Herald, are investigating the possibility of moving their businesses from Greece to Cyprus, London or Singapore. This is mainly due to the legal problems that have arisen after the banks were closed last week in Greece and following the implementation of capital control.
According to The Shipping Herald's sources, a number of large Greek carriers have been in contact with Cypriot shipping companies in particular to investigate their possibilities of moving, and carriers such as Diana Shipping, Navios, Star Bulk and Delta are mentioned among the companies that are considering this, based on the prospect of the financial crisis in Greece getting even worse.
